CJSC "Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank (KICB) published books on the "History of Kyrgyzstan" for the visually impaired and blind children in Bishkek and Osh.

Mr. Kwang-Young Choi CEO of KICB handed over special books to the specialized school for blind and visually impaired children in the presence of Member of Parliament of Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Dastan Bekeshev and Minister of Education and Science H.E. Elvira Sarieva. The books transfer ceremony was held on 27th of February 2015, at the school premises at Kulatova str. 37.

This initiative was made as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility program of the Bank. KICB financed publishing of 485 books in the Braille font and 175 books printed in large type flatbed for the total amount of 613,000 som. All books which were published are on the subject - “History of Kyrgyzstan” and cover grades from 5 to 11 for in two specialized schools in Bishkek and Osh in total for 315 children who study in these schools. The new published books will fully satisfy needs of Bishkek and Osh schools for visually handicapped children, and were recommended for publication by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. This is the first case in the Kyrgyz Republic that commercial entity financed publishing of books for blind and visually impaired children schools. This initiative was proposed by Member of Parliament of Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Dastan Bekeshev.

“All children should have equal opportunities to learn and study, and our initiative is very important because children with handicaps do need more support and encouragement. We hope that as a result of our support, children with visual handicaps will have better learning facilities which will allow them to be more competitive and continue their higher education and obtain good qualifications in future. As a part of its Social Corporate Responsibility, KICB committed to support such type of initiatives”, said Mr. Kwang-Young Choi. “Good knowledge of history of its country is very important for the education of each person, which will allow citizens of Kyrgyzstan to build a strong and prosperous future” he continued.
