Green Foundation members and “Roza Otunbaeva Initiative” International Public Foundation planted more than 1000 trees in Bishkek

More than one thousand trees were planted during April 3 - 4, 2015 at six pilot schools of Bishkek city by the Green Foundation and “The Roza Otunbaeva Initiative” International Public Foundation. This event is also supported by the Mayor’s Office - Bishkek Department of Education, Kumtor Gold Company, Aga Khan Development Network.

In order to organize proper planting eco-experts Shukurov E.D. and Domashov I. were invited who made recommendations for each school to develop a sustainable living system, which includes variety of types and forms of trees and shrubs. Trees were provided by Botanical Garden and ME "Zelenstroi". Kyrgyz National Agrarian University Skryabin (KNAU) also provided technical assistance.

“For trees planting pilot schools №91, №83, №78, №72, №51 and №2 were selected. The purpose of this event is to create a favorable climate on the school grounds, as the landscaping of the school is one of the essential components of the accomplishment of any school site.”- said Kendirbaeva D., executive director of “The Roza Otunbaeva Initiative” IPF.
