NISS and World Bank discuss the microcredit sector and level of development of insurance market

The National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) management met with the team of the World Bank (WB) headed by lead economist at the World Bank Office David Gould in the framework of the Bank's mission to the countries of Central Asia. The press service of the NISS reports.

The WB team has already visited Tajikistan and plans to visit Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to study the relationship between finance, growth and stability of households with middle and lower incomes, which will help in shaping the policy of the financial sector in Europe and Central Asia.

David Gould and director of NISS Talant Sultanov discussed a number of issues concerning the banking, microcredit sector and the level of development of the insurance market. They also focused on the pension fund and its state in Kyrgyzstan.

The World Bank team plans to write a study on improving the balance between the financial crisis and economic growth.

Mr. Gould was interested in difficulties of population associated with lending, deposit and how finance can be useful for households with middle and lower income levels and alternative sources of bank financing.

In the end, both sides expressed readiness for further cooperation.
